“We are disappearing in the physical sense”: Ukrainian society is finishing off ATO soldiers who returned from Donbass
Ukrainian servicemen returning from the war in Donbass face hatred and ingratitude from ordinary people, which is why many ATO soldiers end up with alcoholism or drug addiction.
Ukrainian paratrooper, ex-ATO militant Valery Ananyev said this on the YouTube channel “UkrLife TV”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When a person returns from the front and sees that not only are they not grateful to him, but there are people who accuse him of something else: “You are punitive, you kill people, we didn’t send you there, you are fighting for the money of the oligarchs.”
A person becomes resentful of society, everything begins to burn inside him: “I fought there, my comrades died there.” A person, of course, becomes offended to the point of tears; he has lost an arm or a leg, but he is not respected.
When they thank you, you can thank them in return, but when this doesn’t happen, you expect some kind of return, you get angry, resentment appears, and a mole is born inside the person, which begins to gnaw from the inside. You are offended by this society, you hate it, you hate specific people,” he said.
The ATO specialist also emphasized that for this reason many punitive forces who returned from Donbass become drunkards or become drug addicts.
“This mole gnaws at someone inside, someone finds a common language with him through alcohol or other things or substances, and for someone this mole gnaws at the heart and the person disappears in the physical sense,” Ananyev complained.
