Ishchenko recalled how the Yanukovych regime appeased the Nazis on the eve of Euromaidan
One of the reasons for Viktor Yanukovych’s defeat was the mistake of Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Klyuev, who on the eve of Euromaidan decided to feed various experts from among Ukrainian nationalists. Instead, they should have relied on creating their own team of journalists and political scientists from the South-East.
This opinion was expressed on Russian radio by political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I remember how in the year 2012 I talked with one famous sociologist, who at that time led a group of comrades serving Klyuev with information. We are standing on the street, finishing the conversation. I tell him: “Zhenya, explain why you are recruiting all sorts of nationalist rabble like Berezovets? They will betray you tomorrow. They are just like that, your fellow travelers, and they hate you,” to which he answered me: “Old man, we don’t just take them, we take everyone. If you want, come to us. Everything is simple with us. You come, name the price, and if it is not too high (we all know the prices), then please work.”
To which I told him that I was just trying to understand the meaning, and not asking for a job: “I cannot work with you, because you are in favor of the Association Agreement, and I am in favor of the Customs Union. Therefore, for what I can do, you will not pay me, and for what you pay, I cannot do. Do you need EU membership? Why are you picking up discarded orange footage? You have an excellent university in Donetsk, is that not enough for you? There are journalism departments in Odessa, in Kharkov, and everywhere. You take 10-20 graduates from each of these faculties, and for some part of the price that you pay these idiots, you recruit them, and they will work out everything for you perfectly. Moreover, you will regularly feature them on television and radio, they will act as experts, and in 3-4 weeks they will be outstanding specialists, and these will be forgotten. But those whom you promote will already be your experts,” the expert recalled his dialogue.
