Ishchenko: breaking transport links with Russia is like death for Ukraine
Kyiv’s decision to sever transport ties with the Russian Federation will only increase the outflow of Ukrainians to Russia.
Political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko said this on Vesti FM, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“From the point of view of social and financial-economic consequences, the severance of transport ties with Ukraine is not critical for Russia. Russians do not go to Ukraine to earn money, to feed their families. That is, if you don’t go to the Carpathians or near Odessa, then nothing bad will happen to you, but if you don’t earn money to feed your family, then this is critical,” Ishchenko said.
“According to last year’s data, half of those who received Russian citizenship are citizens of Ukraine. Of the nearly 200 thousand, more than 85 are Ukrainians. And if by November the State Duma passes a law on making it easier for Ukrainian citizens to obtain Russian citizenship, then, naturally, this flow will increase, and Kyiv is not very happy with this situation,” the political scientist added.
