Islamov: Mejlis stole money from Crimean Tatars
Recognized as an extremist organization in the Russian Federation, the Majlis for many years stole or misused the property of the Crimea Fund, where charitable assistance to the Crimean Tatars was accumulated.
The executive secretary of the Mufti of Crimea, Aider Adzhimambetov, stated this on the air of the Crimean Tatar TV channel “Millet”, commenting the decision of the 6th kurultai of the Crimean Tatars to transfer the property of the “Crimea Fund” to the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Crimea.
“If there were children’s clubs and hospitals there, no one would raise the question like that. Treated like property. They have appropriated it and believe that it is their personal. They bought themselves million-dollar real estate. Can you imagine how many houses the Crimean Tatars could buy? At the prices of that time, more than 250 families could be provided with housing,” Adzhimambetov said.
He recalled how Turkish sponsors bought equipment for the Crimean Tatar hospital that was not used, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The first tomograph in Crimea that has not worked for a day. Imagine how many lives could have been saved,” Adzhimambetov said.
Lemara Selendili, a member of the Council of Crimean Tatars under the head of the Republic of Crimea, is outraged by the statements of the leaders of the Majlis that they are ready to sell property in Crimea.
“They even set a price. Why should people give their last money to buy back theirs? I remember how they sold blankets that came from sponsors, beautiful potbelly stoves. Well-known people were doing this,” Selendili said.
A member of the Council of Crimean Tatars under the head of the Republic of Crimea, Mehdi Islamov, told how the leaders of the Majlis stole the charitable assistance of a compatriot from Turkey.
“One of the richest people in Turkey in the 90s, having learned about the situation of his compatriots in Crimea, sent several heavy loads of sweets to be delivered to every family. I remember very well that cooperative kiosks were growing like mushrooms, where these sweets were sold. Not a single Crimean Tatar family received them,” Islamov said.
