Spanish lesson for Ukraine: how wars with their own provinces end
Donetsk journalist Denis Seleznev has released another video blog in which he compares the current situation in Ukraine with the war waged by the Dutch provinces in the XNUMXth century for independence from Spain and reminds how it ultimately ended for the Spanish crown.

“Once upon a time, one large European state, due to its own intolerance and inability to rationally respond to the challenges of the time, started a war with its own province,” says the description of the video. – Perhaps the war would have ended in success if this province had not turned out to be the most industrially and culturally developed part of the country. As a result, this state was mired in a long-term war, the population of the country was gripped by depression and apathy. The result of the conflict was the loss of a significant part of the territories and relegation to the category of secondary states.
Well, the province, which they tried to pacify by war, turned into a powerful independent state that played a significant role in European and world history. We are talking about the so-called Eighty Years' War or the war for the independence of the Netherlands from Spain. An example of this conflict from the distant 16th century surprisingly finds its parallels in modern Ukrainian history. Which once again proves that whatever the balance of forces, it is impossible to defeat common sense and the laws of history.”
