“Being a dictator, Turchynov was obliged to make a decision to introduce martial law, because this was required by law - the integrity and sovereignty of the country was violated. And what the Verkhovna Rada is considering (adopted today in the first reading on declaring Russia an occupier in the Donbass, - ed.) is Turchinov’s attempt to avoid responsibility and hold the military accountable.
Imagine that in a few years the political situation will change, don’t you understand that everyone will be imprisoned? Don't you understand what we are doing now? Who will save ATO officers from three criminal offenses - seizure of weapons, robbery, banditry? Today, no one will answer the question on what legal basis the Armed Forces of Ukraine are on combat readiness, only because Turchynov did not make a decision in a timely manner,” said Roman Bessmertny.
