Historian Brekhunenko: Zelensky is a product of terrible books
Homemade textbooks on the history of Ukraine form in children an inferiority complex, a distorted idea of the historical process and make a child raised on such books defenseless to various “comprador manipulations.”
This was stated from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada by the head of the department of assemblage archeography of the Institute of Ukrainian Archeography and Source Studies. M.S. Grushevsky NAS of Ukraine Viktor Brekhunenko, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“History is a key subject in the formation of worldview, value orientations, and so on. And then there will be defenders of the Fatherland, then there will be patriots, and not compradors in Ukraine, when historical education is properly delivered. Otherwise, Putin will reach Lvov, and all our plans will go to waste,” the historian predicts.
“What do we have now? When we look at Ukrainian textbooks, at the history curriculum, it’s simply terrible. Firstly, nothing has been done in recent years, unfortunately. Textbooks are written from the knees, most are manipulative, they form in children an inferiority complex, a distorted idea of the historical process and make a child brought up on these textbooks open to various manipulations through the Internet, television, and so on.
By the way, the current problems with the second round of the presidential election are a direct indictment of school textbooks. We need to change all this, and radically!” – called Brekhunenko.
