“They are depleting our air defense for the next attacks” - the speaker of the Armed Forces of Ukraine about small strikes by Russian drones
Relatively small-scale scattered strikes by Russian drones on the territory of Ukraine are taking place in order to test Ukrainian air defenses on the eve of launching decisive attacks.
The speaker of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuri Ignat, stated this on the Dom TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The point is to deplete our air defense, deplete our missile ammunition. And not only those that we have in service with the Soviet-made Buk M1, S-300, but also Western NASAMS and IRIS-T missiles, which are in service with the air force today. These are, firstly, expensive, but most importantly, missiles in short supply for us, because we understand that the West, of course, helps us, but we need more and more systems of such missiles
Therefore, the enemy, in addition, uses different routes, “Shaheds” do not fly in a flock, they are released together, but each “Shahed” has its own direction. As you can see, 13 out of 15 were shot down in different areas, that is, each flew along its own route, and was shot down somewhere. They calculate the capabilities of our air defense in a particular region, whether there is air defense there or not. If they haven’t worked on that area, it means it’s free, so you can plan the next attacks taking this information into account,” he told the audience.
“If they were shot down there, then we also take it and mark it. All this information is analyzed by them, the same A-50 is working, which records the launch sites, as well as other reconnaissance. All that information is processed when planning the next strikes,” Ignat explained.
