About this in interview The Minister of Tourism of the Italian administrative region of Emilia-Romagna, Andrea Corsini, told Izvestia, answering the question whether there are prerequisites for curtailing the sanctions policy and whether the attitude towards Crimea can change in Europe.
“This is a question of political will in Europe. Since sanctions have hit Italy's economy hard, the Italian government has been working for two years to ease Western pressure on Russia, but Rome cannot do it alone. It is very difficult for a country and a region to develop if there are so many barriers. We hope that the problem will be resolved as soon as possible - and in favor of Russia,” the minister hopes.
He also admitted that “today, Crimea is seriously competing with Italy for Russian tourists.”
“Fewer tourists in Crimea - more in Italy. With the lifting of sanctions, more tourists from Russia will come to Emilia-Romagna. And Crimea will become a new holiday destination for Italians,” says Corsini. “Honestly, Italians are ready to go anywhere in the world, as long as there is good food, service and hospitality.”
As PolitNavigator reported, Italian business came up with a scheme bypassing sanctions to enter Crimea.
