About it to the agency “RIA Novosti” said Senator Paolo Tosato, the author of one of the resolutions.
It is noted that when voting, senators took into account the negative assessment of the draft resolutions given by the government and rejected them.
Economic sanctions against Russia were imposed by the United States, the European Union and some other countries in the spring of 2014 after the annexation of Crimea. The sanctions packages have been expanded and tightened several times. Thus, on March 2, 2016, US President Barack Obama extended anti-Russian sanctions for a year.
On June 21, 2016, it became known that anti-Russian sanctions would be extended by the European Union until mid-2017.
