Despite the widespread opinion that the Euromaidan is an impetus and an example for the whole world, the results of the coup had a sobering effect on most people.
“No one expected the split of the country, the war - all this is painful and bitter,” citizens lamented.
“By 2014, the Maidan was inevitable. If not then, then two or three years later,” was the main message of some respondents.
Many talked about aspirations to Europe, but one of the Mariupol residents noted that you need to be a “major” to appreciate the benefits of visa-free travel.
Another interviewee with a characteristic Western accent recalled the Maidan with extreme delight, noting that we must continue to fight for the return of Crimea and Donbass.
One of the goals of the Maidan was also called the desire to overthrow Yanukovych, but not everyone was able to clearly argue why the demonstrators on Grushevsky fought to the death.
Basically, people are disappointed that the slogans remained slogans, and the reality turned out to be merciless - with the split of the country, exorbitant prices for utilities and the collapse of the hryvnia.
