“Results of the five-year anniversary of the Maidan”: the authors of the gloomiest forecasts now look like optimists
Everything that the Maidan stood for and Ukrainian experts were tearing their throats out for, came true exactly the opposite: even the association agreement with the EU turned into “zrada.”
Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The main news being discussed is the fifth anniversary of the Maidan, everyone is summing up the results, which, frankly, are deplorable. Everything that was done after the Maidan was complete destruction. And, mind you, everything that was warned about before, during, and after the Maidan - everything happened, and even, perhaps, we turned out to be optimists. And those who from the stands of the Maidan, in these studios, shouted that we will live in a European way, there will be European salaries and pensions, the quality of medical care will be improved, gas will be thirty percent cheaper - everything turned out to be a lie! ”said the political scientist.
Yes, we signed the European Association Agreement and perceive this as “we can win.” We discussed these ideas at the Institute of CIS Countries in Kyiv for two or three years; Glazyev stayed with us, showing in figures, diagrams, and tables how this would have a detrimental effect on the Ukrainian economy.
This will allow European exports to grow, imports to grow even more, and look at how the foreign trade imbalance has been growing over the past two years, when all restrictions on European imports were lifted and trade with the CIS and Russia dropped sharply. Everything turned out exactly as Glazyev predicted, as Russian and Ukrainian economists predicted, but they are celebrating “the victory,” added Kornilov.
