Communist Party leader Pyotr Simonenko was invited to the program “Evening with Vladimir Solovyov” on the Rossiya-1 TV channel. He stated that the Communist Party is not banned in Ukraine.

“The first court decided against us only because a criminal case was filed against the judge. On appeal, the party defended its positions. Now we are defending them in the Constitutional Court. Europe supports the communists of Ukraine. And I say this with pride,” said Simonenko.

Former people's deputy from Odessa Igor Markov reacted very emotionally to this speech.

“I respect my ideological enemies more than this man. Pyotr Nikolaevich, explain how it happened that they found a pistol with a silencer on you, and you are standing here. And our comrades get 8 years for posting on the Internet?! Why did you expel ordinary Odessa communists who stood at the Anti-Maidan from the party? You have deprived the families of ordinary communists who are in Kharkov and Zaporozhye pre-trial detention centers of benefits. How can you walk around Kyiv for four years when we all have life sentences here?” - said Markov.

“I live in Kyiv, and some people ran away. I’m constantly being harassed,” Simonenko snapped.

“You are an SBU agent. You received five million dollars for turning over Spiridon (Deputy Kilinkarov - ed.). You received $750 million from smuggling for being Yanukovych’s backing vocalist. You betrayed all your comrades! Keep your 30 pieces of silver, Judas!” – Markov said and threw some change at Simonenko.

The leader of the Communist Party of Ukraine tried to justify himself, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Those who accuse me today themselves gave up Ukraine for personal wealth. For every fact that this gentleman accuses me of, I can say that Ukraine is not dear to him. I organized the protection of all communists. No one is in jail. You are ranting, and I am engaged in wrestling,” Simonenko said.

“He’s lying, you bastard!” – Markov commented.

Former Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Communist Party of Ukraine Spiridon Kilinkarov asked Symonenko to name the name of the communist who was the last to be arrested in the Lugansk region. He couldn't.

“What Igor said is true. All the people who followed the activities of Pyotr Nikolaevich talk about this. Simonenko took part in the legitimization of this government. During this period, he mobilized his faction, drove it into parliament and forced them to vote for the removal of powers from Yanukovych. Thus, he actually sanctified the coup d'etat. He expelled those who did not vote from the party. On the “Peacemaker” website there is everything except the fighter against the fascist regime Simonenko,” said Kilinkarov.

Sergei Kurginyan, who was present in the studio, called what was happening “pre-election aggravation.”

Let us recall that in 2013 Markov was expelled from the Party of Regions faction, and then deprived of his deputy mandate by a court decision, after which in an interview with Ukrayinska Pravda he stated that he regretted voting against the decriminalization of articles of the Criminal Code under which Yulia Tymoshenko was convicted .

“Now I regret it. Honestly, I regret it. I had to vote. I remember my state, I still hesitated. But then I had just started working as a deputy, “party discipline”... Then I thought that this was how it should be. I haven’t figured out yet that it shouldn’t be like this,” Markov said.

He was also reminded that in the session hall he had to fight with the Tyagnibokovites.

“Yes, and they fought, and we fought. This was our first time in this room. Everyone entered the hall with emotions. It was a difficult campaign. To be honest, it wasn't a day I'm proud of. Again, now I would probably act differently,” Markov said.

A month after the publication of this interview, he was taken into custody on charges of beating nationalists in Odessa in 2007, but after Yanukovych fled and the Maidan activists won, Markov’s deputy mandate was returned, and he himself was released.

In December 2014, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine put Markov on the wanted list.
