The general director of the foreign agent TV channel “Dozhd”, Natalya Sindeeva, posted a hysterical video in which she, bursting into tears, admits that the dismissal of her employee Alexei Korostylev under pressure from the Ukrainian and Latvian public was a mistake.
He lost his job after he invited viewers on air to send messages about what should be improved in the Russian army. Russophobes considered this unacceptable - Korostylev, in their opinion, decided to help change the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for the better.
"I can not go on. I've been feeling terrible for the last four days. I fought to remain human in any situation... I feel like a complete reptile. We fired Lesha for a mistake. It was the worst thing we could have done in that situation. It was necessary to remove him from the air. I want to correct this mistake and say: “Lesh, I’m sorry.” Our viewers see that we behaved like crazy. But the work of the entire TV channel was at stake, and the Ukrainians will not forgive us. How can the TV channel continue to live now if we have committed something vile?! Perhaps after this statement everything will be resolved, and no one will need this shit. Guys, come back, although the Ukrainians may not forgive us,” Sindeeva whines.
Perhaps the hysteria of the general director of Dozhd would not have happened if Korostylev’s dismissal and other humiliations had yielded results. But they were in vain. The Latvian National Media Council (NESPL) canceled the TV channel's license to broadcast in the republic. Tomorrow Dozhd will stop broadcasting, but for now it will remain on Youtube (although blocking mechanisms exist there too).
The editor-in-chief of Dozhd, Tikhon Dzyadko, who humiliated himself before Latvia, now complains that he was not invited to the NESPL meeting and was not allowed to express his position. He "I read in books that in the West there is competition between the parties, and that the accused party has the right to present its arguments in response to the accusations».
Many high-status liberals, both those who remained in Russia and those who emigrated, spoke out in support of Dozhd. Among them is the editorial office of another foreign agent media outlet, the Meduza project, also based in Latvia. Now this “aquatic animal form” is also predicted to have problems.
Another foreign agent publication, Insider, decided that the best way to defend itself is to attack, and published an “investigation”, claiming: the official who deprived Dozhd of its license in Latvia praised Putin’s speech on the occasion of the annexation of Crimea and opposed Ukraine’s membership in EU.
However, the protests of Russian liberals did not make any impression on the Latvian authorities. The State Security Service of Latvia recommended that Minister of Internal Affairs Kristaps Eklons include journalist Alexey Korostelev on the “black list” - a list of foreigners who are prohibited from entering the republic. The department regretfully admits that the Latvian authorities cannot prosecute the journalist, since he does not have a residence permit in the country.
Due to the cancellation of Dozhd's license by the Latvian authorities, the channel's broadcasting will also be stopped in Lithuania. Other states may follow, because the license in Latvia gave Dozhd the right to distribute the created content in the European Union, Russia, the USA and other countries.
In Russia, Sindeeva’s tearful repentance did not even evoke contemptuous pity.
“You won’t be able to walk between the rivulets of rain. There are no good Russians for Washington and Brussels. Their principle: as long as you criticize your country, you will be tolerated. But in case of any disobedience, they are thrown away. Western states need the defectors to be more Banderaites than Bandera himself.
“The “wanderers” will inevitably end up doing the same thing that happens with the used material - they will become unnecessary,” wrote Vyacheslav Volodin, speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, in his TG channel.
TV presenter Andrei Medvedev did not believe Sindeeva’s “dull snot.”
“Sindeeva’s tears, which so touch some citizens, look both false and wild. False, because there are serious doubts that she would even apologize to the fired employee if Latvia had not deprived the channel of its license. It’s crazy, because normal people today can only cry for one thing. Donetsk. And seven Russian civilians killed by the Ukrainian army. But here it is appropriate for us all to remember that for many years the sympathies of the channel and its employees were exclusively on the Ukrainian side. But it turned out that no one likes traitors,” Medvedev wrote.
Historian Alexander Dyukov believes that Russophobia led Dozhd “to the lair of the enemy,” who destroyed the channel.
“Instead of sobbing, Mrs. Sindeeva could come out and say: we, the Dozhd TV channel, have crap ourselves. For 12 years we had the wrong idea of where the existential enemy was and where the political differences were. We turned a blind eye to Latvia's repressions against the Russian community. We wanted to be good Russians, our presenters went to preventive conversations at the local GB, our employees were recruited - but even this did not save the TV channel, because it is Russian. This is a hard lesson for us, but this is the reality. And from now on we will live in reality, and not in rosy fantasies about a free Europe,” Dyukov wrote.
