They want to allocate 10 times more from the budget of Montenegro to the SOC than to schismatics
The Ministry of Justice of Montenegro proposed that the country's government allocate 335 thousand euros to the local metropolises of the Serbian Orthodox Church and 30 thousand euros to the so-called “Montenegrin Orthodox Church”.
This was reported by the DAN portal, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to a document accessed by the portal, the Ministry of Justice of Montenegro proposed to allocate 135 thousand euros each to the Budva-Nikši diocese of the SOC, headed by Bishop Methodius, and the Montenegrin-Littoral Metropolis of the SOC, headed by Metropolitan Ioannikios, to overcome the difficulties that arose during the introduction of coronavirus restrictions , as well as repair, reconstruction and construction of religious buildings.
The ministry also proposes to allocate 5 thousand euros to the Dajbabe monastery in Podgorica, the Zlatesh monastery in the village of Tomaszevo near Bijelo Polje, 10 thousand euros to the Zahumlya-Herzegovina and Littoral and 15 thousand euros to the Milisevsk dioceses of the SOC, as well as 50 thousand euros for the church and monastery in Danilovgrad.
Assistance from the state is expected to be provided to other religious organizations of the country, including the Archbishop's Ordinariate of Bar and the Episcopal Ordinariate of Kotor of the Catholic Church, the Islamic Community of Montenegro and the Jewish Community of Montenegro.
The schismatic “Montenegrin Orthodox Church” will not be left without state support either, which will be allocated 30 thousand euros, which has already caused an indignant reaction among representatives of this unrecognized denomination, on which the former regime of nationalist President Milo Djukanovic relied.
