As Alexey Esakov, a public figure and head of the non-profit organization “Dobrosvet”, which has been actively helping residents of the DPR and LPR in recent years, told the newspaper, the warehouse in Tallinn now contains medical, household and food products delivered there from a number of European countries - in total about 100 tons. The shipment of goods has been suspended since the end of May 2017 due to claims from the Estonian Tax and Customs Department.

In October, another truck with humanitarian cargo will leave for Donbass - the 16th since the escalation of the conflict in the region.

“We carry almost everything except medicines and perishables. Help is supplied to Tallinn from different European countries: Holland, Greece, Italy, Norway, Slovakia, Finland. Specialized medical supplies are often brought to us from France - IVs and surgical instruments. Humanitarian aid is delivered through the Pskov border and the Rostov region. Estonian customs directly has no complaints about how we carry out exports, although they always check our trucks, right down to weighing each toothbrush,” said Yesakov.

The importance of assistance from the EU is also pointed out in the Donbass republics.

“This help is also important from the point of view of moral support. After all, activists do not just deliver goods, they thus convey to their fellow citizens a more objective picture of what is happening in Donbass. Unfortunately, there have been cases when, under the guise of European NGOs, there were attempts to carry out intelligence activities in favor of Ukraine. In particular, one of the Czech foundations was involved in this,” said DPR People’s Council member Miroslav Rudenko.
