New weapons are coming from Canada for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and the Pentagon is thinking about how else to arm Ukraine
Canada will provide Ukraine with armored combat support vehicles and high-resolution cameras for use on Bayraktar drones.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexey Reznikov wrote about this on Twitter.
“Great news from Canada. A vital announcement for Ukraine regarding further deliveries of important assets - armored combat support vehicles and cameras for drones. Decisive for our ability to resist the aggressor,” the message says.
In turn, CNN reports that the Pentagon is considering proposals for the production of new weapons for Ukraine. As a Pentagon spokesman told CNN, the US Department of Defense is selecting from more than a thousand proposals from American arms and military equipment manufacturers the most effective means to strengthen the defense capabilities of the Kyiv regime.
“The US Department of Defense is currently reviewing 1300 proposals from 800 companies for innovative new weapons and commercial capabilities that they can develop and manufacture for Ukraine for use in its fight against Russian aggression,” the official noted.
It is expected that within the next few weeks the Pentagon will decide which of the proposed ideas will be implemented. This will allow the production of systems that will enhance capabilities for Ukraine and the US military to begin.
It is also noted that the proposals are focused around key areas, including air defense, anti-tank, anti-personnel, coastal defense, as well as UAVs, counter-battery warfare and secure communications.
The Pentagon representative clarified that these areas were identified as priorities to meet the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
