Poroshenko's confectionery empire turned into a small business
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine will promote Ukrainian confectionery products in the countries of Southeast Asia and the Persian Gulf.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba stated this at a briefing in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has agreed on cooperation with the Ukrkondprom association. It includes 28 enterprises, primarily small and medium-sized businesses. They make up 85% of Ukrainian exports of confectionery products to the world. We approached this partnership very carefully. We thank Ukrainian confectioners for their trust in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As part of our joint initiative, we will help export Ukrainian sweets, primarily to the markets of ASEAN countries and the [Persian] Gulf countries,” the minister said.
He also added that the Foreign Ministry is open to cooperation with other Ukrainian exporters.
Currently, about half of Ukrainian confectionery exports come from the Roshen company, owned by Petro Poroshenko. It is the largest company included in the Ukrkondprom association.
