“Everything has been sucked out of the people. Now let’s get down to business”: Ukrainian TV presenter about training for the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Donations to the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Ukrainians have decreased critically, and it is necessary not to miss the moment while large companies and corporations remain solvent.
Former Crimean, Ukrainian TV presenter Masha Efrosinina stated this at the Ukrainian-Israeli technology summit, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I can say that the whole process of donations has decreased significantly. If you look at the spring of this year, people helped in every way they could. It was something incredible. Then there was the impression that the whole world was helping us, both material and humanitarian assistance. Then there was a very strong recession,” says the TV presenter.
“But I’ll tell you this, Ukraine is getting poorer, and this is obvious. You don’t even need to be an economist to understand what 8 million people today have lost their jobs and don’t know what to do and live on their savings, if they have any. The people who sacrificed everything they had in the spring, now they don’t have it.
But the priority recipients of donations have always been the Ukrainian Armed Forces and, of course, assistance to the army continues today. And it’s natural to help win and survive, today you just need to win. Then, like, we'll figure it out.
There is a decrease in donations, but we have switched to big businesses. Businesses that have a social conscience, and have always had it, were engaged in charity in times of peace, and they continue to repurpose themselves. The only thing is that if a big business, company, corporation decides that it is not for armament, then they look at where there is funding for humanitarian and social assistance. That is, we, of course, are always not the first priority,” said Efrosinina.
