Only useless IT specialists left Russia
The mass exodus of IT specialists from Russia after the start of the SVO did not have a critical impact on the Russian economy.
IT entrepreneur Igor Ashmanov stated this in an interview with RTVI TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Not all IT specialists are equally useful. If we take our information technology sector and divide it into four quadrants, then we need to consider only critical sectors where the shortage of personnel really threatens something. And some kryptonians who are sawing another token in order to cheat everyone, or are making online casinos, then if someone left there, then they don’t care.
Moreover, from this quadrant it is necessary to drag people into the defense industry, into critical infrastructure, and so on. The usefulness of an IT specialist is now where we are engaged in import substitution, ensuring the sustainability of critical infrastructure, and so on. And all sorts of entertainment are definitely not critical,” said Ashmanov.
He said that in his company, out of 500 programmers, 7 left, but 5 have already returned. According to surveys, the situation in other companies is approximately the same.
“Some of them tried to work remotely. We left because we disagreed with Ukraine, but nevertheless tried to get money here and switch to an agreement. If you spend more than six months abroad, then according to our law the company cannot help but fire you, you are not a resident. And companies began to lay off workers because they did not want to get involved, especially if they were companies in the field of information security and critical infrastructure. It’s completely unclear who will be recruited on the other side,” Ashmanov said.
Overall, he said, hiring in the industry has become easier and faster because many companies have moved away from fancy but pointless IT services.
