Strelkov is being molded into a single leader of Russian nationalists – experts

“Strelkov will speak out on the current situation in Novorossiya, here are the elections, the Minsk Protocol, and everything else. Although, as far as I understand, there is nothing special to say about the elections: it is clear who will win and with what score. In the next day or two, the exact date of the briefing will become known,” political analyst Anatoly El Murid told MK.

The publication recalls that on October 20, Strelkov said that the current head of the DPR, Zakharchenko, should refuse the St. George Cross, which Strelkov awarded him for military merits, and accused him of “personal enrichment,” and threatened Putin with the Hague Tribunal, to which Russia’s retreat from tough positions in Ukraine.

The editor-in-chief of the Voice of Sevastopol project, known in LJ as Coljnelcassad, Boris Rozhin, told the publication that “Strelkov has no direct conflict with Zakharchenko, who is not free in his decisions, since he is tied to the supply of humanitarian aid from Russia.” “In fact, this is a conflict with Surkov, who is now responsible for the situation in Ukraine,” a top blogger explained to the newspaper. – It is obvious that the truce is not being observed, but the leadership of the republics still declares the current regime of silence. This is absurd. Naturally, not only Strelkov, but also many other people look at this situation with bewilderment. It only reflects the opinion of those who believe that Russia should more decisively defend its national interests.”

When asked by MK what will happen if all of Strelkov’s arguments do not take effect and the current course of the DPR continues, Rozhin noted that “in such a situation, a threat of military defeat of Novorossiya is created. Firstly, while some are playing at a truce, others are concentrating troops and preparing to destroy the enemy. Secondly, the current policy destabilizes the situation in Russia itself and creates the threat of a coup. Strelkov cannot prevent this, but he can warn the authorities that they are playing with fire, and whether they listen to him or not, it depends on themselves.”

Alexey Mukhin, general director of the Center for Political Information, sees this as «an attempt to introduce Strelkov into the Russian political field.” According to Mukhin, “they will try to secure Strelkov in the nationalist sector of political work. Nationalists now do not have strong leaders because they do not act as opponents of high-status politicians. Strelkov just attacks those with status.”

“I will not say who is trying to introduce him into this political clearing, but I can assume that this is not only Strelkov’s personal desire. Rather, there are forces that really want to see him as the leader of Russian nationalists, but he is simply looking for his place in the ranks and does not object. And he follows the recommendations of political strategists,” says the expert.
