Bulgakov and Kuprin were expelled from Ukrainian schools - instead they will study “Roshen”, NATO and the Bible
The Ministry of Education of Ukraine quietly approved new textbooks, which will be used to teach children in schools starting in 2017, and also adjusted the curriculum for high school students, from which the works of Bulgakov and Kuprin were removed and lessons with police officers were added.
This is stated in today’s publication of the Kyiv edition of “Strana”.

“These changes will be taken into account when new textbooks are printed for schoolchildren in 2017. The programs in geography, history and literature received the most correction. Also, interesting changes affected the lessons in jurisprudence,” the publication claims.
In addition, during geography lessons, as stated in the publication, Vinnitsa schoolchildren will study the Roshen enterprise owned by Petro Poroshenko.
“The geography program has been revised, as the ministry stated, from a “Ukrainian-centric” point of view. What new things will schoolchildren learn in geography? First of all, now lessons on this subject in 9th grade will be held within the framework of “Ukraine and the World Economy.” As part of the course, students will be required to know and characterize large industrial enterprises in their regions in the fuel and energy complex, chemical, light and food industries. Formally, this means that in Kyiv or Vinnitsa they will study the work of Roshen, and in Lutsk or Cherkassy - the work of the factories of the Bogdan corporation. During practical classes, students will draw on contour maps of the GXNUMX countries. In a separate lesson, they will study the UN, NATO, and the European Union,” the publication notes.
The program on modern history for 11th grade has also changed. The publication lists topics that high school students will study: “gas” and “trade” wars with Russia; the process of European integration and its suspension; student Maidan, Euromaidan. Revolution of Dignity 2013-2014 Heavenly Hundred; annexation and temporary occupation of Crimea by the Russian Federation; Russian aggression against Ukraine. Beginning of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) in Donetsk and Lugansk regions; early presidential elections 2014 Petro Poroshenko; Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.”
The Bible will be studied in the Ukrainian literature program for grade 9. And in the topic “The Bible in the life of Taras Shevchenko,” schoolchildren are asked to draw a conclusion about “the lawlessness of life without God and the awareness of God as a high spiritual stronghold of the individual.”
The study of “The Heart of a Dog” by Mikhail Bulgakov was excluded from the program of world literature, and “The Pomegranate Bracelet” by Alexander Kuprin, “The Boy at Christ’s Christmas Tree” by Fyodor Dostoevsky and a number of other Russian writers were removed from the program for additional reading.
However, as the publication notes, nationalists are unhappy with this too. Thus, a member of the VO “Svoboda” Alexander Aronets demands that the department stop educating “vatu”, completely abolishing the study of the Russian language and literature in educational institutions.
