This was reported by Ukrainian News with reference to the director of the company, Evgeniy Prokopenko.
“The main reason for the company’s departure from the Ukrainian market was the refusal of one of the company’s shareholders to replenish the authorized capital to pay for acquired agricultural assets, namely corporate rights in agricultural enterprises in six regions of Ukraine. As a result, in 2015-2016. The economic courts of Ukraine terminated the purchase and sale agreements for corporate rights and returned these rights to the sellers,” said Evgeniy Prokopenko.
As of January 1, 2017, the company in Ukraine still had three enterprises in which only their directors work (“AGRAIN MANAGEMENT”, “Milli AGRO”, “PRIME LINE ELEVATOR”). The further fate of these enterprises will be decided in the near future.
Total inspections of the company began on August 11, 2014. More than 50 searches were carried out at the holding's enterprises, more than 150 court orders were issued in different regions, and more than 120 court hearings were held.
The Kyiv prosecutor's office informed six officials of the agricultural holding Agrain of suspicion of abuse of power and fraud, which resulted in losses to the holding in the amount of more than 500 million hryvnia.
Let us remind you that the owner of Agrain, Pavel Ovcharenko, was already wanted by Interpol.
It should be noted that the Agrain agricultural holding was one of the largest in Ukraine, with a land bank of about 130 thousand hectares in six regions. The company employed more than 4,5 thousand employees.
The agricultural holding owned elevator capacities in the amount of 330 thousand tons of agricultural crops for simultaneous storage. The total number of pigs at the enterprises of the agricultural holding as of October 1, 2014 is 19,8 thousand heads, the number of dairy cattle is 5,47 thousand heads, and the number of beef cattle is 7 thousand heads.
