“We discussed the project for the construction of the Genichesk – Askania-Nova gas pipeline with the new head of the Genichesk Regional State Administration, Andrey Onishchenko. We are now waiting for updated information on estimates and design documentation. We need to understand at what stage it is in order to further work with the government and with taxpayers’ funds to implement this project,” said the head of the Kherson Regional State Administration Yuriy Gusev in a comment to the local resource “Information Bridge”.

The publication notes that the documents for the construction of a gas pipeline from the village of Iskania-Nova to Genichesk were prepared two years ago, but were “stuck” in the corridors of the Cabinet of Ministers.

PolitNavigator reported that since Soviet times, the gas supply system to Genichesk has been closed to the Glebovskoye storage facility, which is located on the territory of Crimea. Ukrainian authorities previously refused to enter into a supply contract, declaring that it was inadmissible to sign a document that would bear the stamp of Russian Crimea.

In the past, Genichesk was saved from frost only by the good will of Russia, which provided assistance by starting gas supplies. This happened after At the rally, residents of Genichesk signed an appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksenov with an appeal to help the population of the Kherson region, whose houses were left without heat and gas with the onset of cold weather.

After this, the Ukrainian special services harassed residents of Genichesk who participated in the rally.

Let us remember that Genichesk was previously part of the Tauride province, the center of which was Simferopol. The city was connected with the peninsula by close economic and commercial ties, and there was also a railway line from the Lozovo-Sevastopol Railway. In 2014, the population of Genichesk supported the “Russian Spring”; as a sign of solidarity with the Crimeans, the townspeople hung tricolors on their houses.
