Ukraine's main propaganda channel was shut down in nine cities due to debts
On Monday, June 18, the analogue broadcast of the propaganda TV channel “UA: First” through transmitters in the cities of Kyiv, Odessa, Dnepr, Vinnitsa, Ternopil, Chernigov, Belopole, Izyum and Kovel was suspended.
This was reported by the press service of the National Public Television of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to her, analogue broadcasting was stopped by the RRT concern (radio broadcasting, radio communications and television) due to non-payment for broadcasts by PJSC NSTU.
The TV channel emphasizes that since April 2018, its budget has not provided money to pay for the broadcast, which led to a debt to RRT in the amount of UAH 75,12 million.
“The distribution of expenses of the state budget of Ukraine for 2018 indicates that financial support for the National Public Television and Radio Company of Ukraine amounts to only UAH 776, which is half the amount guaranteed by the Law of Ukraine “On Public Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine.” The funding cut in half does not provide the necessary funds to pay for broadcasts,” they said on “Pervoy”.
To pay for all NSTU broadcasts, UAH 340 million per year is needed, but only UAH 51 million is allocated and provided for in the budget program passport, the channel added.
