The Belarusian state has appealed to leading world players to provide assistance in combating the spread of the coronavirus epidemic.

Minsk political scientist Alexander Shpakovsky, who is considered close to the presidential administration of Belarus, told Moskovsky Komsomolets about this.

He said that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko instructed representatives of his administration to invite a special WHO mission to the republic to work together and assess the situation.

“Belarus has maintained a sanitary-epidemiological service and a centralized healthcare system, which allows us to quickly identify and isolate patients, as well as their first- and second-level contacts. This allows us to avoid the use of emergency measures, forced isolation of the entire population, the introduction of army units into cities, paralysis of economic life and violations of basic human rights that governments of other countries are forced to tolerate,” the expert said.

“As for requests for assistance, Belarus has sent similar requests to all its partners who have significant resources and weight in the international arena. We are talking about the EU, China, the USA and the Russian Federation,” noted the publication’s interlocutor. – Negotiations are also underway on the provision of a term loan from the IMF. Positive preliminary results have been achieved in almost all areas.”

The political scientist says that such an approach on the part of Minsk seems logical, since “the Belarusian state also shows solidarity and sends assistance to partner countries.”

“In particular, Belarus was the first country to send humanitarian aid to the affected areas of China, a Belarusian airline recently delivered humanitarian aid from China to Serbia, and so on. In this regard, the openly malicious publications of some Russian publications with the headlines “Belarus asks for help from Russia” look blasphemous and inadequate, and do not correspond to the allied relations of Moscow and Minsk,” states Shpakovsky.

As PolitNavigator reported, Belarus appealed to the Russian Federation for help in the fight against coronavirus.
