Due to the lack of chlorine, Ukraine faces mass poisonings and epidemics
For residents of the DPR shutdown of the only Ukrainian enterprise production of chlorine will not entail any risks.
This was announced by the First Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the DPR Vitaly Kizhaev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As far as the DPR is concerned, the absence or shortage of chlorine will not in any way affect the operation of our filtration stations. The Russian Federation provides us with serious assistance, including reagents for water preparation and purification. Deliveries are made stably, regularly, according to schedule. Chlorine is supplied in high quality. There is no threat to the residents of our republic,” the Donetsk official assured.
At the same time, he added that for the residents of Ukraine, this situation, on the contrary, threatens with serious consequences.
“Throughout Ukraine there is a water purification system that involves either chlorine or hypochlorite. Approximately 90% of all wastewater treatment plants run on chlorine. If it is not there, then the water will no longer be purified. This will lead to poisoning, infections, epidemics, which is very serious, especially in today’s hot weather,” Kizhaev emphasized.
We would like to remind you that PolitNavigator previously reported that A large-scale catastrophe is brewing in Ukraine: a number of large cities may be left without drinkable water due to a lack of liquid chlorine to disinfect it.
