Today, the Ukrainian army is 90 percent technically equipped, but there is a serious shortage of motivated personnel in the troops.

Ukrainian military expert Sergei Zgurets stated this in an interview with Kraina magazine, answering the question of how secure the Ukrainian army is today.
“We started the war with a critical shortage of weapons and personnel. After two boilers, 80 percent of combat-ready equipment was lost. Today, the Armed Forces are more than 90 percent staffed. There is a lack of modern communication systems. There is an urgent need for motivated personnel. There is a shortage of contract soldiers and junior officers,” the expert admitted.
According to him, the reason for the shortage lies in insufficient financial motivation.
“Recently, 8 thousand hryvnia was good money, but now they don’t want to join the army for that amount,” Zgurets laments. “Today, the defense of Ukraine is a matter of people, not hardware.”
