As Basov’s associates explained, after a new court verdict was made, material evidence remained “orphaned” - documents, money and telephones. It turned out to be impossible to attach them to the criminal case, which is another confirmation of the unfoundedness of the charges against Basov, the Russian Bloc claims.
The judge of the Leninsky District Court, Vasilenko, decided to decide the fate of the “material evidence”. (Earlier, the “Russian Bloc” stated that after the events of 2014, Judge Themis tried to transfer to work in Ukraine – in the Golopristansky District Court of the Kherson Region).
“He decided to give the cash that previously belonged to Basov to the entrepreneur, since the entrepreneur said that he had once given Basov change after one of the money transactions. I decided to transfer documents that were never in the criminal case materials, but for some reason ended up among the material evidence, to legal entities that do not exist today. As for phones, it seemed to be the same as with the camera. The camera was taken away without being included as evidence, apparently with the intention of misappropriating it in the future. They thought that Basov would sit in prison for a long time, and no one would demand him. However, when the media began to write about attempts to appropriate the camera by the security forces, it was suddenly found, and they offered to return it,” the Russian Bloc press service said in a statement.
Let us remind you that Basov has been behind bars for about two years. He was initially arrested on charges of extorting a bribe. However, lawyers insisted that the leader of the Russian Bloc was a victim of provocation. According to them, this happened after Basov began to fight the “cemetery mafia” in Sevastopol, which was formed in the funeral services market back in Ukrainian times and was “protected” by corrupt security officials.
In the second year of the fight, the lawyers achieved the dismissal of the charges under corruption, but the court reclassified the claims against Basov as “attempted fraud.” The sentence was commuted from 9 to 6 years behind bars, the multimillion-dollar fine was reduced to 500 thousand rubles.
However, this verdict also does not suit the defense; it intends to seek complete acquittal of the hero of the Russian Spring.
