Due to the outflow of migrants, Moscow is faced with a colossal problem
Due to a shortage of low-skilled labor, problems with snow removal have arisen in the Russian capital.
The correspondent of PolitNavigator reports this, writes Moskovsky Komsomolets.
The publication cites eyewitness accounts who complain about the lack of people fighting snow debris.
“The answer to the question why everything is so sad seems to lie on the surface. Based on the experience of past years, when there were more seasonal workers for snow removal, Muscovites know that migrant workers are most often hired for such work. But this year, after the first wave of the pandemic, Russia’s borders still have not opened. As a result, according to the mayor of Moscow, the number of foreign workers in the capital has decreased by 40%,” the newspaper writes.
Earlier, Yuri Moskovsky, Chairman of the Commission on Migration Issues of the Council of Nationalities of the Moscow Government, noted that migrants make up at least 7-8% of the labor force used by the capital. But at the same time, we are primarily talking about areas where Muscovites do not occupy vacant positions or occupy them extremely reluctantly.
