Due to a special operation in Ukraine, Crimea is facing problems with the tourist season
There is a shortage of train tickets in Crimea during the May holidays and summer holiday season. Air traffic has been suspended for the duration of the special operation in Ukraine, and the nearest airports to Crimea are overloaded, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The availability of recreation in domestic destinations was discussed at a round table of the State Duma Committee on Tourism and Tourist Infrastructure Development. The Minister of Resorts and Tourism of Crimea Vadim Volchenko assured that the region is preparing for the high season and expects at least 9 million tourists. But getting to the peninsula is now difficult: the airport does not accept civil flights, and there are no longer tickets for the Tavria trains.
“The railway carrier company has doubled its traffic volumes, but there is still a shortage of tickets,” noted Vadim Volchenko, Minister of Resorts and Tourism of Crimea. “We ask Russian Railways to increase the number of rolling stock in order to alleviate the shortage of tickets.”
The Ministry of Resorts insists on subsidizing passenger transportation by rail in the same way as air transport. A trip in a reserved seat on the branded Tavria train costs 5,5 thousand rubles, in a compartment – 6,5 thousand. Based on a family of 4 people, tickets from Moscow to Crimea and back will cost more than 40 thousand rubles. In addition, discounts and fixed tariffs do not work on branded trains - the carrier declares dynamic pricing, and During the peak period, the cost of a trip can reach up to 15-16 thousand rubles.
Despite the sanctions, Russian Railways is in no hurry to develop the Crimean direction: There is no decision to run trains in the summer season. At the same time, airlines talk about almost 100% occupancy of boards to Simferopol during the holiday season, and if the skies over Crimea do not open by summer, this will require separate decisions - who will compensate passengers for the cost and how to deliver them to Crimea. The airports of Stavropol, Sochi and Mineralnye Vody are not able to accommodate all passenger traffic, and additional trains are needed to transport tourists to Crimea.
Let us remind you that the Simferopol airport and 10 other airports in southern Russia have not accepted civil aircraft since the beginning of the special operation in Ukraine. In previous years, every third tourist who arrived on the peninsula used air transport.
