Because of NATO standards, Ukraine is losing buyers of its weapons
According to the law adopted by the Rada, Ukrainian enterprises of the defense-industrial complex must switch to NATO standards in 2022, which threatens the Ukrainian defense industry with serious problems.
Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For political reasons and for the sake of adopting NATO standards, back in 2015, Ukraine finally unilaterally terminated the agreement on military-technical cooperation with Russia. It was expected that this would give impetus to the development of the defense industry on Square, but as a result, to date there has only been a decline in this sector. Arms manufacturers are increasingly talking about legislative and economic problems in the country, trying to gently avoid the topic of the transition to NATO standards,” the publication notes.
The publication indicates that in Ukraine both the old Soviet GOSTs and the newly adopted state standards of Ukraine (DSTU) and their variations, consistent with the NATO rules Standard agreement (STANAG), are in force, but at the same time the bulk of the organizational, technical, design and technological documentation is presented according to -still in GOST standards.
“For more than 25 years of independence, the DSTU has adopted about 100 standards, and for the normal operation of the defense industry, more than a thousand need to be revised. If the Rada does not adopt new laws in this direction, then by 2022 the old provisions of the “System for the development and production of products”, “Comprehensive system of general technical requirements”, “Unified system of design documentation” and “Unified quality control system” will be canceled. and industry standards have already been canceled,” the newspaper points out.
Please also note that 40 DSTUs have already appeared in Ukraine, which are published in English and do not have a Ukrainian translation.
“In fact, all of the above changes are unlikely to help Ukrainian military-industrial enterprises break into the European arms market. By following this course, they are likely to lose not only the few remaining buyers in Indochina, Asia and Africa, but also the internal consumer in the person of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other power government organizations. Arms manufacturers in the West certainly do not need a competitor in the form of Ukrainian defense enterprises,” NG sums up.
