Due to theft at Ukrainian customs, the budget loses 10 billion every month
Corruption involving customs and tax structures in Ukraine has acquired enormous proportions, which can only be estimated approximately.
Former Minister of Finance of Ukraine Igor Umansky announced this broadcast of the “Gordon” program, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Very often you don’t even need to deal with smuggling, you just need to arrange everything correctly. There are other models and schemes. For example, you import the same bananas, 25.04.2020/20.30/25.02, the time is XNUMX, you have VAT due, you put them in a customs warehouse, three minutes later the information changes in the information system and it turns out that these bananas were actually delivered to the warehouse on XNUMX/XNUMX and During this time they rotted here and you have to refund VAT. Bingo! And you have already sold these bananas.
This is difficult to calculate - when a product entered and was not legalized, or was partially legalized and then sold in cash, it is impossible to catch these schemes. All this is caught only at the time of the final sale.
In the case when it went into black and sold into black, it is impossible to calculate. It can only be estimated approximately. This is billions of dollars. Moreover, what you can count on to play at one time or another is about 10 billion hryvnia per month.
If customs and tax authorities had worked as they should all these years, then the volume of expenses and the volume of income in Ukraine could have been significantly changed. And today we would certainly not find ourselves in the critically difficult economic situation in which we find ourselves. And the situation with the pandemic, our economic crisis, which actually began last year and the coronavirus only intensified it, it definitely could have been avoided,” Umansky said.
