There are no limits to the official zeal of the SBU. They can’t come up with anything within this department. So this time, the “hut”, as it is popularly called, stomped with a chicken leg.

According to the website of the Ukrainian secret police, “Lawyers of the Security Service of Ukraine have prepared a bill to limit visits to the Russian Federation by politicians, officials, representatives of local governments and public figures. The draft law, in particular, provides for criminal liability of officials for visiting the Russian Federation with the aim of causing harm to the national interests of Ukraine. It is proposed to add the corresponding article to the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The SBU is initiating public discussion of a bill to restrict visits to the Russian Federation for Ukrainian officials.”

At the same time, the drafters of the report do not try to hide the name of the initiator of this initiative: “The next step in the legal regulation of countering Russian aggression was the initiative of the head of the SBU Vasily Gritsak to ban the travel of politicians and officials to the Russian Federation.” This is the same Gritsak who already offered the help of Ukrainian shoulder craftsmen in the investigation of terrorist attacks in France. He also reported on the discovery of “Russian traces” in various high-profile cases even before a basic inspection of crime scenes. And he said many more things that none of the great satirists of the past could invent - neither Defoe, nor Saltykov-Shchedrin, nor even Marquez himself.

Nowhere in the world are borders closed completely. Even the Israelis have their own system of negotiations with Hamas thugs. Except that the Albanian leader Enver Hoxha tried to reach such heights of isolation in relations with his neighbors, and even then he found forms of cross-border dialogue with the subordinates of Comrade Tito.

Now let’s see how this nonsense of a man with weighty shoulder straps will be put into practice. Let's take an ordinary example. The Seversky Donets River flows from the Belgorod to the Rostov region of the Russian Federation through the territory of Ukraine. Thus, if they pour some nasty stuff there in Belgorod, then the Kharkov region will not be happy. Accordingly, if something bad happens, for example, in Lisichansk, then the trouble can reach the Don itself. In this case, representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of both countries should have the opportunity to meet quickly and promptly resolve issues within their competence.

And where will they meet? In Minsk? So other uncles and aunts solve completely different issues there. Or maybe on Pukapuka Atoll, where, from Belgorod, or from Kharkov, a two-day flight with three or four transfers? After all, all the same, the Ukrainian border service will not let Russians in, and the SBU will not let ours out. So all they have to do is talk over the wall that is being built on the border, modeled after the Great Australian Rabbit Fence.

True, there are two squiggles in this sentence, or rather, in its path. The first is that neither the “hut” nor its boss Gritsak are endowed with the right of legislative initiative. Therefore, you will have to turn to the president, government or deputies for help in pushing it through. And it’s not a fact that they will submit such a document for consideration. And the second is that, for example, the same Foreign Minister Klimkin and other officials need to visit their relatives in Russia at least occasionally. And many deputies, accordingly, too. So the big question is whether the deputies will agree with Gritsak’s opinion.

True, he can push through this stupidity with his decision, as an internal document of the SBU. It would seem that any court should cancel it outright, but you yourself understand...

So we'll wait and see what comes of it.
