Israel and Ukraine make peace on border crossing issue
Ukraine and Israel plan to minimize the number of refusals to cross the border for citizens of both countries. In particular, Israel expressed its readiness to consider the possibility of expanding the scope of legal employment of Ukrainian citizens, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About it reports the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
Israel noted that they plan to simplify the employment mechanism under the current Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers and the Israeli government on temporary employment of Ukrainian workers in certain sectors of the labor market in Israel dated 2016. It is noted that recently the number of Ukrainian citizens seeking asylum in Israel has decreased significantly.
The parties agreed to carefully consider citizens' complaints regarding improper treatment during border control procedures. Each of such signals received through diplomatic channels will be the subject of a separate internal investigation by the responsible departments.
The agreement between the countries, ratified on November 16, 2016, provides for the temporary stay of Ukrainian workers arriving for temporary work in Israel in specific industries in accordance with the procedures set out in the protocols to this Agreement, as well as the return of Ukrainian workers to their homeland after the end of their legal stay in Israel.
In January of this year, a new wave of deportation of Ukrainians began in Israel, when batches of our migrant workers and tourists were sent home from this country. During the year, about five thousand imaginary refugees from hostilities in Donbass were also expelled. This is despite the fact that, according to various sources, about 50 thousand Ukrainian illegal immigrants work in Israel. In turn, at the Boryspil airport in Kyiv, dozens of Israelis were denied entry into Ukraine.
