Israel flatly refused to support anti-Russian sanctions
Israel values its relations with Russia and does not succumb to pressure on this matter.
Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman stated this in an interview with Kommersant.
“Over the past decades, we have built a special relationship with Russia, very constructive and transparent. We value this relationship with Russia. Even when our closest partners put strong pressure on us…” said the Israeli minister.
The publication immediately asked to talk more specifically about the pressure being applied.
“For example, in the case of sanctions against Russia, we flatly refused to join them. Just recently, many states expelled Russian diplomats, this whole dispute over the use or non-use of nerve gas and so on. Israel did not join this action. We have normal relations with Russia, and we take its interests into account. We hope that Russia will also take into account our interests here in the Middle East,” Lieberman noted.
