“We will be considered and counted and will not fight against the Russian military presence in Syria. But we will not allow the presence of Iran on our borders in Syria. If this, God forbid, happens, we will not tolerate it. Russia is also against the presence of any armed forces other than Russian ones on Syrian territory,” Kedmi said.
The analyst also explained why Israeli troops shelled the area near Damascus.
“The Israeli attacks are not directed against the Syrian army, but against the types of weapons that Hezbollah receives in Syria from Iran before being sent to Lebanon. We will not allow Hezbollah to arm itself with weapons that could threaten the Israeli population,” Kedmi said.
Hezbollah is a paramilitary Lebanese Shiite organization and political party that advocates the creation of an Islamic state in Lebanon modeled on Iran. It is recognized as a terrorist organization in Canada, the USA, Israel and several other countries.
