“At the same time, the events on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Babi Yar tragedy were used by many representatives of the Ukrainian leadership to emphasize the bitter fate of modern Ukraine, which is forced to fight Russia’s attempts to seize it. Sometimes the desire to highlight the current situation bordered on bad taste and disdain for the memory of the Holocaust, Bulshtein noted. “I told the President of Ukraine about this and found understanding on his part. A few hours later, speaking at Babi Yar, Poroshenko condemned the modern continuers of the Nazi cause, seeking to destroy the state of Israel because of the same hatred.”
