A famous Galician woman praised Donbass and said that she was ashamed of her native region
Today in Western Ukraine there reigns dense ignorance and incredible provincialism, which are spreading throughout Ukraine.

This opinion was expressed in an interview with the Kyiv weekly “2000” by Larisa Skorik, a professor at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, who was at the origins of the Rukh, but subsequently broke with the so-called national democrats.
She took extremely negatively the words of political strategist Taras Berezovets, who is close to AP Poroshenko, who stated that Donbass understands only the language of power.
“What do they even know about Donbass? And I know a lot about him. I got there by assignment after the Lvov Polytechnic Institute, and I had a great time working there and living quietly on the average salary of a young specialist. First of all, because there were no informers there, and thanks to people who were intelligentsia in the true sense of the word. I’m not talking about some abstract Donetsk residents, but about the cultural, scientific and technical intelligentsia of “Giprograd”, specialists in the field of architecture and technology with whom I had the opportunity to work. I have never met such open, educated and reliable people anywhere,” Skorik said.
At the same time, although she herself is a native Galician, she does not consider her fellow countrymen as bearers of the “spiritual code of the nation.”
“I am ashamed of the parents who raised such children, who are now running around the streets calling themselves “activists,” but they themselves do not know who they are, where they come from or what they want. These children can be filled with any abomination into their heads, forced to scream some wild chants or shed someone’s blood - and all this with the connivance of their parents. I have a feeling of disgust towards this dense ignorance and incredible provincialism. Are you telling me Galicia? What do the so-called radicals, who have now spread from there throughout Ukraine, even know about Galicia? And Kharkov is already full of them, and in Odessa, and, of course, in Kyiv.
As fate would have it, the majority of the native Galicians - those for whom such concepts as honor, nobility and conscience have always been fundamental - were expelled or destroyed. They were shot, deported, driven from their native land. Back in the 30s, Vasily Stefanik wrote that our intelligentsia there, in Galicia, “is so small and worldly.” She simply didn’t have time to get up - her head was immediately blown off,” the architect emphasized.
According to her, as a result of the processes taking place in Galicia, the intelligentsia was practically no longer there, and “those grains that remained dissolved among the ballers and shvonders who took root in this land, began to call themselves “Ukrainian intelligentsia,” and then imagined themselves Ukrainian Piedmont.”
“What did they do to my Galicia, what did they turn it into?! This is not even farming. This is a heavy, self-confident provincialism that has spread throughout Ukraine,” says Skorik.
At the same time, she admitted that after the second Maidan she stopped traveling to her homeland.
“I won’t be able to remain silent, and coming and expressing everything I think to their faces is useless. And I don’t want to tear out the remains of my heart. I have like-minded people there, but there are few of them, and they are bullied, they are afraid to talk about it openly,” Skorik added.
