“Among the witnesses is the leader of the Batkivshchyna party, Yulia Tymoshenko, who is now the main political rival of President Petro Poroshenko. It is noteworthy that the news about Lazarenko appeared immediately after the declarations of assets of current politicians and officials were made publicly available,” the publication notes.
The arrival of FBI investigators in Kyiv was announced by the editor-in-chief of the Gordon publication Alesya Batsman, who told NG: “I cannot disclose the source, but this is reliable information.”
According to Bayman, it is planned to interview about three dozen people in a civil lawsuit that Lazarenko filed against the US government.
Experts do not rule out that the news about the interrogation of Yulia Tymoshenko by FBI investigators may be related to the growing ratings of the Batkivshchyna leader.
“Who are these people, when and with what powers did they come to Kyiv (did they come?) - we don’t know anything. But the mention of Tymoshenko looks like an attempt to pull old strings in order to discredit. And as a hint from Tymoshenko herself, that there is no need to bring early elections closer or try to bring people into the streets,” the publication cites the opinion of Ukrainian political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko.
At the same time, the newspaper writes, yesterday in the first half of the day “Batkivshchyna” did not have any information about the alleged upcoming interrogation of the party leader by American investigators.
