A famous American diplomat called on Biden to cooperate with Putin
The United States and Russia currently do not have specific topics for positive discussion.
Former US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul stated this on the State Department-funded Voice of America television channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to McFaul, American President Joe Biden should cooperate with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin; they are capable of reaching agreement, as recently shown by the case of extending the Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty.
“We need to work with Putin on various issues - there are issues that they must agree on. And by the way, they were just able to agree on the continuation of START-3 for five years, which I support, I think this is a very correct decision, I took part in the negotiations on this.
But what will happen next, on what other issues they will cooperate, is difficult to talk about. “Maybe it will be easier for Biden to talk about human rights because there is no specific positive topic for discussion between Russia and America right now,” McFaul said.
