“In May, Mr. Turner already sang for the people of Sevastopol, but due to fear of sanctions against the artist, then the concerts were held, according to the organizers, “virtually semi-underground,” the publication recalls. “This time, the rock singer, defying all fears (“I’m not afraid of sanctions. Are they going to put me in prison?” he says), will perform in the main halls of Crimean cities - like, for example, today in Feodosia’s Zvezdny. The singer will be assisted by musicians from the TOP Gun group from St. Petersburg, with whom Turner has been playing for about 5 years.”
“I have always tried to be independent, I felt above all rules and guidelines,” Turner said at a press conference in Simferopol dedicated to the upcoming concerts.
“And the entire creative life of the rock singer proves his creative and personal freedom - take, for example, the time when at the turn of the 90s, having joined Deep Purple, he tried to change the sound of the famous group, update it in the spirit of current musical trends,” characterizes the performer “RG. “And a few years before that, the songs of the Rainbow group, in which Turner sang and Blackmore played, hit the top ten in the world radio charts. As for Crimea, even during his last visit Turner really liked Sevastopol, the city is “very bright, full of life,” one of the most beautiful that he saw on his tours. Now the musician will see other Crimean cities, not much inferior in beauty to the hero city.”
“In the West there is not a word of truth about what is really happening in Crimea,” the publication quotes the musician. “Only positive things will happen here, because the truth is on your side.”
The performer spoke unflatteringly about the USA, saying that “this is no longer the country in which my father raised me” and emphasized that he is now more comfortable in Russia than in the homeland of his ancestors. And that’s why, the publication explains, “today he wears a ring with the image of the Russian coat of arms on his finger and is thinking about how to move to live closer to Russia, for example, to the Republic of Belarus.”
