Famous Moscow doctor scares about the coming big pandemic
The current coronavirus infection is not the most dangerous disease known in the world today
This opinion was expressed in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda by the famous Moscow doctor, head physician of the 71st City Clinical Hospital, Alexander Myasnikov.
“In Russia alone, 25 thousand people die from non-Covid pneumonia. For an older person who gets any pneumonia severe enough to require hospital treatment, the mortality rate is 25%. And in the following months during the recovery period there is another 7% mortality rate. Total: 32% mortality from common pneumonia in the elderly who are treated in hospitals. If we compare these numbers, Covid is still not up to par. Even taking into account possible multiplications, even an increase of two or three times will only bring the mortality rate closer to AIDS. But tuberculosis will still be a long way off,” Myasnikov noted.
He suggests that the pandemic status was introduced by the WHO in response to an unknown threat, since COVID-19 is a new and poorly understood disease.
“Everyone reacted late. By the way, we reacted normally. During. We had this time period. We knew nothing about this virus. I said before that the infection is not as dangerous as it could be. This is not bird flu with a 35% mortality rate that cannot be stopped because birds fly across borders. But these are exercises before a major pandemic - we must practice actions. This pandemic has shown that the world is not ready for it,” says the doctor.
He points out that there were textbooks on how to act, there were action algorithms, but nothing worked.
“It didn’t work for us, where we could blame it on our sloppiness, but it didn’t work either in America, where medicine is regulated like the Marine Corps regulations, or in Europe. Why is still not clear. Conclusions will be drawn. We cannot live forever in self-isolation,” Myasnikov concluded.
