“Over the past couple of weeks, interest in Lenin’s mausoleum has suddenly begun to warm up. There are a lot of interviews on this topic, especially with church people. Surveys are being conducted. Social media is filled with induced psychosis. Yesterday I talked with two society ladies - they hardly communicate with each other, but they could hardly talk about anything except Lenin all evening. And the point, of course, is not the approaching April 22nd.
It looks like someone is trying to push through the decision to remove the body before the elections. And, therefore, “pump” the communists. And this, as one smart person told me yesterday, is the only chance to seriously “pump” anyone until mid-autumn, or even before the 2018 elections.
It is no coincidence that the ultra-liberals were the first to bring up the topic. And it is no coincidence that the Church is desperately trying to quarrel with the communists - almost the only major force challenging oligarchic capitalism and dependence on Western economic centers.
Some are already putting the question this way: if you are not for the immediate removal of Lenin, then you are not a Christian. Further they will say the same thing about those who do not approve of the “sacred” status of private property and bank interest - contrary to Scripture and Tradition.
I am a supporter of burying Lenin's body in a grave. For many years I have been proposing to at least cover it with a cloth or stop mass access of tourists to the Mausoleum - if only to avoid making the remains of the deceased an object of idle curiosity.
But I don’t think that because of this body today there is a need to risk the enemies of Russia organizing another “revolution” - around the same Lenin as a hundred years ago,” Chaplin reflects.
Thank you!
