The well-known Ukrainizer is afraid that if Saakashvili’s passport is taken away, “Little Russia according to Putin’s patterns” will come.

Ukrainian nationalist politician and people's deputy of previous convocations Oles Doniy saw in the deprivation of Ukrainian citizenship of Mikheil Saakashvili nothing less than an attack on the foundations of democracy and justice, the country's European choice.

Doniy wrote about this on his page on the social network.

“Whether or not Saakashvili will be deprived of Ukrainian citizenship actually depends on society. If society swallows Poroshenko’s next slide into authoritarianism, they will deprive him of his citizenship, if he doesn’t swallow him, they will say that it was an “information error,” or “a mistake of some official,” or “this never happened at all,” the politician is sure.

According to Doniy, many Ukrainians have not yet gotten rid of illusions about the Poroshenko regime

“I have no illusions about what the Poroshenko regime is, and it has nothing in common with democracy except the naive faith of some citizens on the one hand, and profanation and falsifications on the part of the authorities. But many Ukrainians still have such illusions. Well, well, it depends on you, ladies and gentlemen, whether you will live in a Ukrainian democratic state, or in “Little Russia” (albeit with the name “Ukraine” and with an allegedly patriotic wrapper) according to obvious Putin patterns. Over the past three years, the country has increasingly followed the example of Russia rather than European democracies,” the former people’s deputy is confident.

In his opinion, Europe is measured not by “visa-free travel,” but by “attitude to law and justice.”

“Therefore, the problem is not Saakashvili, but whether Ukrainian society has enough strength to resist Poroshenko’s authoritarianism,” sums up the former people’s deputy.
