Famous Ukrainian politician: The situation in Donbass threatens to get out of control
Ukrainian media blame the LDPR for the aggravation in the Donbass, despite the fact that people are dying in territories not controlled by Kyiv.
Georgy Kryuchkov, deputy of the Ukrainian parliament of the 3rd and 4th convocations, former head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense, stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The Ukrainian media say that mercenaries are firing and so on. But people on the other side are dying. Who do you have to be to blame those who are where they are dying?
As for bringing the armed forces of the DPR and LPR to combat readiness, I do not think that the unrecognized republics are preparing for an attack on the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They understand what it is, but they are resisting the actions of the Ukrainian side.
I perceive what is happening in this region now as a serious danger. The number of deaths and injuries in the territory not controlled by Ukraine has increased sharply. Shelling is underway, infrastructure facilities that are important for life support, water supplies, and electricity are being destroyed. The Ukrainian side is making bellicose statements that do not receive appropriate assessment from the top leadership, and this is very alarming. Perhaps everything is heading towards a serious intensification of hostilities.
Unfortunately, there is no serious intention on the part of the Ukrainian leadership to resolve this conflict. Absolutely nothing is being done for this. There was an exchange of detainees, but these are not actions that lead to any results.
The situation is very difficult, all this has been going on for seven years now, and no one even thinks about the people. After all, there were pensioners, veterans, women, and children left there. I'm amazed that no one cares. We are told that this territory must be blocked, water and electricity supply must be deprived and people should die there, and after that this territory must be liberated. Nobody is interested in what is there – millions of our fellow citizens,” Kryuchkov said.
