A famous Ukrainian rock musician is in trouble: he was bitten by a rabid dog, and there is no vaccine in the country

The leader of the famous Ukrainian musical group “Druha Rika”, Valery Kharchyshyn, was bitten by a dog during a bicycle ride. The musician decided to seek help from doctors and take a dog that might have rabies for examination. But the animal owner opposed this.

Kharchyshyn himself talks about this wrote on his Facebook page, “PolitNavigator” correspondent reports.

“This monster overtook me. This guy bit me on the leg. You know what the protocol in our country is that you must do - go to the emergency room at your place of residence to urgently receive a rabies vaccination. B does not depend on the size and social class of the dog. And also catch the dog and take it to an animal rabies control station or, at a minimum, to a veterinarian,” the musician’s message says.

He complained that there is no vaccine against rabies, not just at the place of registration, but in general throughout Ukraine.

“Therefore, if the dog is mad, then you should look for the nearest funeral service bureau to order a good pine coat. There is no cure for rabies. And if you dream of a quiet life during the incubation period, all that remains is to catch the dog and take him for examination,” the message says.

However, according to Kharchishin, the owner did not allow the dog to be taken for examination, so the musician contacted the police. There they answered him: “Do you want us to run after the dog?” and in the end they advised me to go to court. “The only thing we can do is fill out a statement when the squad is free,” the police later added.

So, half an hour later a police squad arrived and the owner of the dog, seeing people in uniform, went to meet them and tried to give them his pet, but he ran away. But law enforcement officers managed to catch the four-legged animal.

Kharchyshyn also wrote that after this he contacted the rabies department, which works a full 4 days and until lunch on Friday, “since dogs don’t bite on weekends.”

“My vet suggested I keep the dog at home for 10 days. If the dog does not die during this time, then you will live happily ever after and one day you will 100% die, but not from rabies. But he suggested doing everything according to the protocol. And I went to the emergency room to hear, “There is no vaccine, watch the dog...”. But there is an analogue, go buy a tetanus vaccine, just in case you are a fireman,” the musician wrote.
