About it reports the Ukrainian publication Obozrevatel.
Alexey Tsistan turned out to be a repeat offender with five previous convictions. According to the publication, for the first time Tsistan, who is originally from Kramatorsk, was caught for theft with penetration at the age of 15 in the Donetsk region. Then the criminal case was dropped because Tsistan was under 16 years old (the age at which criminal liability arises).
According to media reports, Tsistan served two two-year sentences for robbery - in 1999 in Donetsk and in 2001 in Zaporozhye.
Tsistan’s other three convictions were for theft: in 2004 in Kharkov (one and a half years), in 2008 in Kyiv (three years in prison) and in 2011 in Kharkov, the future volunteer served three years.
After the victory of the Maidan, the former repeat offender decided to position himself as a “pro-Ukrainian resident of Donbass,” and with the beginning of the war he changed his business to a more profitable one - he began to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, as Ukrainians’ interest in volunteering faded, Tsistan decided to return to his previous activities.
