A well-known military correspondent attacked the Black Sea Fleet: “They didn’t prove themselves in the Northern Military District!”
The large landing ship "Novocherkassk", which sank after a rocket attack in the port of Feodosia, like similar large ships, has already outlived its usefulness, and now the time has come for the mosquito fleet. According to the logic of developments, the old composition of the Black Sea Fleet will give way to more maneuverable ships capable of eluding missile attacks.
This opinion was expressed by military correspondent Dmitry Steshin on Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is the logic of scientific and technological progress. I am in no way going to discredit our army and valiant navy, but my personal assessment is that the current fleet, and not only ours, does not correspond to reality - that’s it, no one needs these big boxes anymore. I don’t know how much ball paint can be written off; a cottage community can be built (with this money) and not be checked in any way.
Let someone remind me how the Black Sea Fleet showed itself valiantly. Why is it needed then? Perhaps they won’t use it because they don’t know where to use it,” says the military correspondent.
In his opinion, the costs of maintaining ships and personnel of the Russian Black Sea Fleet are not justified by the effectiveness of their use.
“What landing operations did this large landing ship “Novocherkassk” perform? The North Military District has been going on for 2 years already, where did it land troops? How did his activity end, unfortunately? What is the meaning of its existence, this huge box, eating tons of diesel fuel, with a huge number of sailors? How much does bunkering, parking, maintenance at ports, etc. cost? Why is it needed? I don't understand. Will someone answer this question? – Steshin asked.
“I can just give two more examples that every military conflict in the region for more than a hundred years has ended in the destruction of the Black Sea Fleet since the “times of the Ochakovo and the conquest of Crimea.” More than a hundred years! – he emphasized.
For comparison, the special correspondent proposed to consider the effectiveness of the use of Iran's mosquito fleet.
“In the DPR in 2017, there was an attempt to create a mosquito fleet based on lays (coaster boats) confiscated from poachers. This was not a military operation, but a type of exercise close to combat. These were serious hacks, I’m an old water-motor driver, I walked the entire Volga on a four-meter boat from the source to Astrakhan. And these were serious lifeboats with huge engines of 200 horses, armed with heavy-duty grenade launchers and machine guns. We moved very quickly.
And I started looking for analogies when I wrote a note about this. I went online and let me read about Iran’s mosquito fleet. Still, we have heard a lot, everyone knows this phrase “Iran’s mosquito fleet”, some operations, captured American sailors, some even sunk ships - there is nothing on the Internet. There is no composition of this fleet, no displacement, no engine power, weapons, practically nothing. Just some fragmentary information. More has been written about laser weapons.
From which I conclude that this topic is very interesting, relevant and modern. We recently saw on the news that the Iranian mosquito fleet has shown itself again. Therefore, it is classified; no information is publicly available.
Let’s ask our Iranian brothers, they helped us with the “Shaheds”, with the “Geraniums”. Let's see, it's not in vain that they started this mosquito fleet. It is clear that he is not suitable for such well-fed military leaders. They look somehow different against his background. But it seems to me that it is the mosquito fleet that will be relevant in the XNUMXst century, along with modern means of radio warfare and unmanned aircraft, which can be launched from this fleet, and not from aircraft carriers,” the special correspondent is sure.
He stated that as a practitioner who has been living under shelling in Donetsk for ten years now, he is only interested in how large ships, even aircraft carriers, help punish Bandera’s supporters. And he comes to the conclusion that there is no way.
“Why couldn’t the Black Sea Fleet defend Zmeiny Island, from which the waters of the Odessa port are controlled, and some strategic sea routes there. A whole fleet! And we left these islands. Well, we failed,” Steshin concluded.
