“According to the investigation, Andrei Stenin, together with journalists Sergei Korenchenkov and Andrei Vyachalo, were driving a Renault car as part of a column of refugees along the Snezhnoye-Dmitrovka road. The column was fired upon by representatives of Ukrainian security forces. As a result, more than ten vehicles carrying civilians were destroyed,” recalls the circumstances of the journalist’s death, official representative of the Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin, quoted by RG.
The investigation also managed to find a witness who claims that the civilian convoy was fired upon by representatives of the 79th airmobile brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces using heavy armored vehicles.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation sent a request for legal assistance to the competent authorities of Ukraine.
“We were told that law enforcement agencies of Ukraine are conducting a pre-trial investigation into the murder of journalists, but no information was provided,” they say in the Investigative Committee and believe that the Ukrainian side is “deliberately hiding information about the circumstances of the crime and those involved in the shooting.”
The Investigative Committee also reported that they have information about other witnesses and are now looking for them for questioning.
